Inside (2007) ★★★½ (contains spoilers)

While I’m a fan of extreme horror movies, bad writing just doesn’t work in any kind of movie. The police procedural in this is so out of touch with reality (giving a horribly wounded pregnant woman a gun to protect herself and leaving her alone while the policeman searches for a fuse box, all the while chained to a perp he forced to follow inside an active crime scene)—uh, give me a break! 🙄 It was like in the midst of an intense extreme serious plot, the three stooges made a cameo as beat cops.

This was a gore-fest of a movie and would have worked better for me without the stupid things that happened like the above. Also, the CGI baby reactions were just cheap.

On the flip side, there was a lot to marvel out if you’re a fan of super extreme movies. Most of the splatter and gore was done convincingly. It was a bloody hell ride, intensely distributed throughout the run time. The end was nice and bleak. The nurse at the beginning foreshadowed it well—first births can indeed be murder. Smoke ’em if you got ’em.

Rating: ★★★½ (out of 5)
