Horns

Overview

He will bring out the Devil in you.

In the aftermath of his girlfriend’s mysterious death, a young man awakens to strange horns sprouting from his temples.

Review

Horns succeeds as an interesting murder-mystery, but lacked the real horror kick I felt might have elevated the movie. Daniel Radcliffe and a stunning Juno Temple have great chemistry, but the premise of the whodunnit with the horned detective is somewhat watered down by the film’s end. Some of the character reactions are unbelievable and oddly comical.

For all the really good actors in this, I expected more from this film. Plus Alexandre Aja has historically been more of a horror director and the genre ties in this film seemed very thin. The ending was downright corny. Altogether, this pushed to be average but came up a bit short.

Rating: ★★½ (out of 5)
