Review

Expected this one to be a less-than-average experience but the premise intrigued me enough to add it to my 2024 watch list. What I ended up getting was a better-than-average movie thanks to the cast, each turning in really good and convincing performances.

I would edge this one as a bit more of a thriller than horror, but there are enough horrific deaths and nightmarish surreal creepiness in this one to please even a seasoned horror fanatic.

The entire film takes place in a single location. This setting is effective in ratcheting up the tension. The horror of pharmaceutical industry execs using humans as disposable guinea pigs is not at all that far-fetched.

Pollyanna McIntosh is effective in playing a cold but somewhat empathetic drug trial head, then is unleashed to inject some sinister horror elements into her character as the movie progresses. It was easy to care or relate to each of the main characters, and the acting was spot-on, convincing and really moved this movie to another level.

Rating: ★★★½ (out of 5)
