A quality psychological thriller with a stellar performance by veteran actor Sean Patrick Flanery. This movie takes place within the jail in the hours leading up to a murderer’s execution. Mostly dialogue between a psychiatrist and condemned man which will weigh the balance of whether or not the execution goes on as scheduled. Is the man sane, insane, or a demon, which he claims.
This entire movie really goes to the heart of mankind and good vs. evil. Are evil acts caused by evil men or women or by evil forces? This movie only has one answer and it’s presented both at the beginning and at end of the movie.
It’s thought-provoking and Flanery’s portrayal of a multi-faceted man who may be suffering from DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) or possessed by a demon is gripping as you are introduced to glimpses of the broken man in the midst of it all. For those who want action, gore or jump-scares in horror, this may not be for you. It is largely a character study of a condemned man, a psychiatrist and the human state of existence.
