Overview

HUMANS ARE SUCH EASY PREY

A group of scientists have developed the Resonator, a machine which allows whoever is within range to see beyond normal perceptible reality. But when the experiment succeeds, they are immediately attacked by terrible life forms.

Review

What’s more embarrassing than when your pineal gland gets enlarged and sticks out? Really, not much! All I can say about From Beyond is that there are a few dickheads in this film.

I really wanted to love this film as much as Re-Animator, but it doesn’t even come close. Everything seemed to be less: less gore, less horror, less boobs and yes: less of an erotic Barbara Crampton. However, it’s still an entertaining watch…a twisted world where science meets the supernatural and sanity takes a vacation.

Dr. Edward Pretorius is like the mad scientist who’s so fucking mad, even other mad scientists are like, “Holy shit, dude, chill!” With his invention, the Resonator, he unleashes a Pandora’s box of phallically bizarre creatures and mind-bending horrors that make you question if you accidentally stumbled into a Lovecraftian acid trip. It’s a rollercoaster of cosmic insanity where the only thing scarier than the creatures from beyond is trying to figure out if the mad scientist’s chest hair is real or a low-budget ’80s prop. Strap in or strap on, hold on tight, and remember, just because you can see beyond doesn’t mean you should peek.
