Blackout (2024) ★

Blackout

Overview

Small town artist Charley is a tortured man whose drinking binges blur with his sneaking suspicion that he might be a werewolf. He distances himself from those he loves and sinks deeper into solitude, as his flashes of memory of his grisly nighttime acts manifest themselves through his artwork.

Review

If I’d have just blacked out during this film, it would have been a much better experience.

The acting and dialogue was so bad, these two elements would have surely killed a werewolf much quicker than a silver bullet. Speaking of silver bullets, why not reinvent just a little? This film brings absolutely nothing new to the werewolf subgenre, but pollutes it with redneck small town politics thrown in as an annoying backdrop and theme. From a horror perspective, the kills were boring, the fear factor relatively low and originality extremely weak.

I tried to come up with a few positives for Blackout. I really racked my brain, but ended up just blacking out.
