Review

Oddity debuted high in my best horror movies of 2024 list. Damian Mc Carthy has knocked it out of the park on his first two featured films. Caveat received a rare 4-star review from me and Oddity is slightly a better film. Similarities are that both films are saturated in creep, slow dread that’ll keep you on edge through the run times. I also enjoyed how the occult-nature of both films are extremely dark and possess creepy props. The unnerving bunny in Caveat makes a cameo in Oddity as part of the shop of oddities which was very well done. This time, the wooden man is the freakish object that haunts the film.

I was somewhat torn on the very last scene of the movie. Did it just go from suppressive dread through the entire film to a campy, humorous ending, or was the ending unnerving? Turns out it walked the line between both with me.

Definitely a 2024 must-see horror film.
