Review
Mark this M. Night Shyamalan film under quiet folk horror. If you’re in the mood for something light, a dark love story of sorts, The Village would satisfy that. Definitely not my favorite Shyamalan movie, but, like everything he does, it’s well-shot and there is eerie foreboding and suspense. The payoff, however, is a little disappointing if you’re expecting supernatural horror.
The one thing I didn’t like about The Village is that fear and deceit is put into effect to control the people. Like most religions, it’s a foundation built upon fantasy and lies. Which kind of spoiled the whole isolation and harmony element.
