This movie marketed itself in a way that delayed my interest in watching it. But with Radio Silence’s Abigail coming up soon on my watchlist, I finally got around to viewing it.
Ready or Not features hardcore action, surprise and dark comedy. There is no romantic getaway after this wedding. The bride (played by Samara Weaving) must opt out of consummating her wedding. Instead her in-laws hunt her in a deadly game of hide-n-seek. Weaving’s screen presence elevates this movie. She’s tough, funny and really a perfect actress for this role.
This movie shines as a fun horror experience. It’s hard to take much seriously as the personalities of the rich in-laws provide for several laughs throughout. Gory and shocking kills elevate the horror. The movie moves at a quick pace of chase action with intervals of dark comedic reflection.
Ready or Not blends perfectly some of my favorite horror elements. Add a great cast and story and you have a movie every horror fan should seek out.
