Villains (2019) ★★★

Villains

Overview

Two bad people are about to meet two worse people.

When their car breaks down, a couple on the run headed southbound for a fresh start in the Sunshine State break into a nearby house looking for a new set of wheels. What they find instead is a dark secret, and a sweet-as-pie pair of homeowners who will do anything to keep it from getting out.

Review

Jules rules! Really a great cast, but Maika Monroe steals the shows. Some of her facial expressions and confused gazes were priceless. This movie is rather weak from a horror perspective, but truly entertaining to watch both parties square off in the battle of corrupt people. Also tagged as comedy, but I’d say it’s more of a run romp than one you’ll laugh out loud throughout. A few funny scenes, but an overall whimsical vibe from beginning to end.

Villains is a good movie, but nothing stands out as being great except the cast and their roles. But the plot and writing limited the impact on the stellar ensemble.

So a fun one-time watch, but will more than likely not return for a second viewing.

Rating: ★★★ (out of 5)
