After the mayor of an idyllic island village discovers a child with mysterious powers awash on their shores, the once peaceful community devolves into civil war, torn over the belief that the child is the next saviour.
Review
Low-key horror movie, but it involves the greatest evil in all of horror cinema: human beings. The King Tide has a great cast, is beautifully shot and has a satisfying ending that makes it worth the watch. Yes, another folk horror addition to horror’s 2024 offerings, but more effective than most.
Mother Earth will be sending many thanks to Isla when history repeats itself as soon as she arrives on the mainland. The King Tide is one of those films that the final scene and afterthought is much more frightening than the movie sequence itself.
