I avoided this film like the plague due to both friends’ and public reviews stating what a horrible movie this was. Exorcist 3 was one of my favorite movies of all time, and better than the original Exorcist, IMO, which is not a popular viewpoint. So I hated to hear the reviews and put off watching this for months because I didn’t want to be disappointed.
But I thought the film was good, and it ended up making my top-10 horror movies of 2023.
Loved the multi-faith angle the film presented and Odom and Dowd were super in their roles as father to one of the possessed and nurse/ex-Sister respectively. I thought Green did a solid job as director.
No reason to compare it to the original Exorcist, though it has loose tie-ins. This movie stands on its own as an effective horror movie.
