Review
Jane Schoenbrun’s follow up to We’re All Going to the World’s Fair is a more polished and powerful film that really takes horror in the direction of themes of alienation and identity. There’s a cyclical sadness displayed in both of these films that becomes the darkness, the horror. I Saw the TV Glow is a brilliant neon-shot, more dynamic film than the more found-footage predecessor. Both are powerful, but this latest really shows Schoenbrun’s unique vision.
Also the personal connection that most of us growing up will have to this film is a testament to it power. I’ve always felt that everyone feels alienated, alone and displaced during the lives. This film showcases this heartbreakingly.
