Review
Elijah Wood is no stranger to horror movies. He starred in the 2012 remake of Maniac and will be back in genre territory with the release of The Toxic Avenger sometimes in the near future. He’s a really good character actor that fits well in films with a more comedic edge. And perfectly cast here as the character Norval in Come To Daddy.
The bulk of the humor in Come To Daddy is really is the scenes with Elijah Wood and Stephen McHattie as Wood plays a quirky son who has never really known his father. Instead of a mending reunion with dear old dad, he gets thrown into an intensely bizarre and demoralizing event. This quickly twists into a dangerous life or death adventure. This film is entertaining as it twists and turns and you never really get a good feel for where it’s going. You’re helplessly along for the ride which makes it a lot of fun.
Come To Daddy is a little bit sad, quite funny in spots and a rather dark and weird ride. But really light on any real horror. The scariest thing in the film is truly Elijah Wood’s haircut. Not a bad film to watch if you’re looking for something different.
