Review
Indonesian horror film with an evil hottie as the main antagonist. I guess you might call Badarawuhi a HILF. Yes, a Horror I’d Like To… But that explains why the part of the village she is sequestered to is full of men dancing incessantly like demented maniacs around her. I’d have to break out the classic worm that morphs quickly into the sprinkler if I were one of the men vying for her attention. Yes, I’d be denied. But I’d also introduce new culture to the congregation.
The Dancing Village: The Curse Begins is unfortunately way too long. But it’s a refreshing vision to really be submerged into other cultures like this. When you can empathize with characters from other cultures through a shared language of fear, it’s a beautiful thing. I wouldn’t exactly heap high praise on this as a movie. But I would recommend at least a single viewing to take in a beautifully shot piece of cinema rich in Indonesian and Javanese culture.
